- Freeway Underpass
This project was for 6 underpasses in Phoenix, Arizona and included:
Removal of pigeon nests and feces, Pressure washing underpasses and netting off the tops and sides of the underpasses to prevent pigeons from living in this area and making a mess on the cars and walkway below.

We had two different types of bridges,
some with Plastic bird spike and some with nothing at all for pigeon
protection.
- The results were the same as you can see by all the pigeon mess. We took out hundreds of pounds of feces and other materials from under each bridge. |

After removing all the feces and other
debris by hand we had to pressure wash the exhaust dust and remove the
remaining feces so the underpasses could be painted below our net.
Each 1/2 side of the underpass had to be washed and netting completed before we could close off traffic and do the other side, which allows pigeons to sometime gain entry to the completed side. |

Installing the 30,000 ft of cable systems10,000
split pins
and 90,000 sq.ft. of black 2" netting at night using flood lights is
harder than it looks with all the shadows and odd angles the light created. We even had to cut the net during the daylight hours so we could see where to measure and cut. You can see all the pigeons waiting on the billboards to get back under the underpass when we work. |

Netting installed along the underside of
the underpasses and along the sides to prevent pigeons from nesting. This project took about 3 months using 7 men working from 9:00pm - 6:00am, 5 nights a week plus working around other trades on the job. We used over 24- 50'x75' 2" nets that had to be cut to 5'x75' each and over 10,000 inserts, 30,000 ft. of cable, 100's of drill bits. All work was done from 3 scissor lifts that had to be towed in and out each night one by one. |
